OCS recognizes and understand the need for competent, well-trained personnel in the workforce, whether it be on a drill floor, in the engine room, at the controls of a process facility, or performing maintenance. As equipment, systems, and regulatory practices become more and more complicated, companies are finding it increasingly difficult to acquire skilled personnel, as well as to keep them currently trained in necessary skills and certifications.

 In response to the increased lack of skilled personnel, and in response to demands from clients, OCS established the OCS Training Institute, with the first facility opening in Houston, Texas in 2007.  Intended to provide intensified theoretical and practical training in identified  skill shortage areas, the first courses were developed in Hazardous Area Electrical Training, designed to teach standards and safe practices for personnel tasked with operating and maintaining areas with potentially explosive atmospheres, and new courses are being developed in hydraulics, high voltage safety, programmable logic controllers, and computer training.

 OCS training staff believe that hands-on, practical training is much more effective than simple instruction, and all of our courses are built around this philosophy.  Each course taught has practical exercises built into the instruction, so that students get a “tell me, show me” experience which helps them learn and retain the subjects much greater.  Students are evaluated by both written test and graded practical exercises.
